Community Power Finance and Development Models examined at Finance Forum

Monday, May 10, 2010

Throughout the course of the day at the Community Power Finance Forum, 200 delegates consisting of community power project developers, funders and policy makers learned about finance, funding and project management information relevant to community-owned renewable power projects in Ontario, under the province’s Green Energy Act and the Feed in Tariff regime.

The well-attended event featured key international speakers with experience financing community power projects in European markets,  Ontario funders that support renewable power development in the province, and community power developers with projects underway.

The Hon. Brad Duguid, Ontario Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, announced a new grant program supporting community-owned development, the Community Energy Partnerships Program, at the event.

Presented by MaRS, the Green Energy Act Alliance and D&D Securities, and with generous support from the Ontario Power Authority, Blakes and the Community Power Fund, the Community Power Finance Forum was the second in a series of events designed to accelerate the movement of capital into the new asset classes crested by the Ontario Green Energy and Green Economy Act.
